Teen Wolf: Season 5, Part 2 DVD Review
Season Five of the series was broken down into two parts, and the second half, Teen Wolf Season Five Part Two: To Hell and Back, is out now on DVD. This season sees the Pack not only fighting Theo (Cody Christian; Pretty Little Liars) but a beast as well. There are also Skinwalkers and, of course, Dread Doctors to contend with as well as the Chimera. With so many supernatural creatures to deal with, it's amazing they manage to stay alive. Luckily Scott and Stiles (Dylan O'Brien; The Maze Runner) manage to reconcile to work together. Oh and they need to save Lydia (Hollond Roden; House of Dust) from an insane asylum.
This season ended up not being as funny as past seasons and seemed to be darker on many levels. I suppose the writers were setting us up for season six, which is supposed to show the teenagers in more of an adult light, according to cast members who were at Comic Con this past July. Season five was the conflict of typical senior year where kids want to be more mature while struggling with leaving their friends and childhood behind. It will be interesting to see this change in the characters and how the audience will react to it.
As for the DVD, it is packaged on three discs and spans 431 minutes. It also includes a special edition Illustrated poster and an exclusive featurette, Ultimate Dread – The Creatures of Season Five.
Critically acclaimed, the Teen Wolf series has one of its strongest seasons in Season Five and sets the stage for a powerful ending to the series. With high expectations, fans hopefully won't be disappointed. If the first episode of Season Six is any indication, they are in for a wild ride.
Meanwhile, the Teen Wolf Season Five Part Two: To Hell and Back is a great addition to any fan's collection and is the perfect way to go back and watch last season as this new one begins. If you're a fan, or know someone who is, now is the perfect time to pick up this set. It will make a terrific gift for the holidays.
