Variety has reported that there will be a live action "Fraggle Rock" movie to be released by The Weinstein Company.  Cory Edwards of "Hoodwinked" fame will be directing and writing the screenplay, while the Jim Henson Co. will produce and The Weinstein Company will be distributing.

The film will feature human characters as well as puppets, just like the TV series. In the film, the main group of characters, Gobo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and Red will explore "outer space", which is what they have coined the Human world.

The legendary show premiered in 1983 on HBO and ran for five seasons. No production date has been set, however according to inside sources the film will be released sometime in 2009.
