Star Wars Licensees Join Forces for Unique Products & Distribution
Star Wars merchandise has taken many forms since the debut of the original film in 1977, everything from pencil erasers to beautiful bronze statues. Nearly 30 years after the release of A New Hope, Star Wars is as strong as ever and the range and quality of the product offered continues to grow. Sideshow Collectibles and ACME Archives are two companies creating some of the best mid-range and high-end Star Wars collectibles available today and the two companies are proud to announce a new relationship using the San Diego Comic-Con as the forum for their announcement.

Sideshow Collectibles specializes in figural collectibles and is a licensed manufacturer and distributor of 12-inch figures, Premium Format 1:4 scale figures, Life-Size Busts, and Life-Size Figures. ACME Archives creates a wide array of fine art collectibles with product lines including Character Keys, Giclées, Model Sheets, and one-of-a-kind original production art. The two companies have formed a strategic partnership with the intention of creating and distributing unique print collectibles. Both companies are excited to bring their formidable talents and strengths to this new relationship.

Initially, the two companies will focus on the release of several exclusive Star Wars: Clone Wars Character Keys in continuation of a unique print concept created by Acme. Character Keys are a concept that originated with Acme Co-President Sean McLain, who based it on an old-time traditional animator's term, "key," which was (and still is at some studios) a color thumbnail of a character or background element with color reference. The Clone Wars Character Keys have a suggested retail price of $30. The Sideshow/Acme relationship is expected to grow beyond the Character Keys into a host of other print collectibles both framed and unframed.

The Clone Wars Character Keys have already enjoyed great success in the marketplace and currently demand premium prices on the secondary market. All eight previously released Character Keys have sold out. We're planning some very cool characters for the Sideshow exclusive Character Keys, said Acme's Sean McLain. "We'll focus on some of the more popular secondary Jedi characters and perhaps slip in a couple of the villains that fans have been demanding."

"Star Wars has provided a wonderful common ground for Sideshow and ACME to begin this new partnership," added Greg Anzalone, President and CEO of Sideshow Collectibles. "Star Wars is currently our strongest licensed property and the fan base for Sideshow Star Wars products continues to grow and amaze us at every turn. The Sideshow and ACME partnership has great potential, even beyond Star Wars. We view ACME as a premiere manufacturer of high-end print collectibles and we are proud to support their quality and creativity with our unique blend of product representation and distribution." A specific product line announcement will be made in August. Meanwhile, visit the or Acme web sites for further updates.
