Disney's Beverly Hills Chihuahua Tops The Box Office Two Weeks In A Row

The latest Disney film, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua", is making headlines as they grab the number one spot for the second week in a row at the box office.  It took home $17.5 million, bringing its total earnings to $52.5 million.

The film beat second place Sony's "Quarantine", which earned $14.2 million, and third place Time Warner's "Body of Lies", which earned $13.1 million.

Paul Dergarabedian, president of Encino, Media By Numbers, seems to think that people are wanting to go out and see a fun movie, not one that equals the melancholy that comes along with our current economic crisis. He says, 'It's been an intense week in terms of personal finances and uncertainty and 'Chihuahua' allowed people to have fun and not think about the trouble.'

"Beverly Hills Chihuahua" is the story of a lost dog from Beverly Hills, that winds up in Tijuana.  The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis as well as Piper Perabo, and features the voices of Drew Barrymore, Andy Garcia and George Lopez, just to name a few.
