No, you won't be seeing the now middle-aged stars back at their favorite hangout spot. ABC will be airing an updated version of the film as a new TV series. The show will follow the six friends, 3 boys and 3 girls, and their lives, in the new dramedy.
The show will be executive produced by Joel Schumacher, Topher Grace, Dan Bucatinsky and Jamie Tarses and to be written by Bucatinsky. Schumacher was the director of the 1985 film.
"More than anything, the movie evokes a feeling that doesn't go away... the feeling of bonding with your friends who become your surrogate family", said Bucatinsky. He also said that he knows that there will be a comparison to the mega hit show, "Friends", but he's not all concerned about it. "I feel it is time to re-create 'Friends' in the hourlong genre and feel like this is the perfect opportunity".
