New Star Wars Trilogy Announced with Rian Johnson to Direct
Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced that Rian Johnson will be developing a new trio of Star Wars films. An official statement claimed that the new trilogy will  "introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored."

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, said, "We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi. He's a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy."

Johnson took to Twitter to confirm the news, saying, "Obviously I hope you like The Last Jedi. But man now I REALLY hope you like The Last Jedi."

The new trilogy of films will be released after the current Star Wars films that are set to conclude in 2019.
