New Spy Kids Film in the Works

It's being reported that Skydance Media has optioned the rights to and is looking to bring back the "Spy Kids" franchise. Creator Robert Rodriguez will reprise his writing and directing jobs for the project. 

The "Spy Kids" franchise is comprised of the films "Spy Kids" (2001), "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams" (2002), "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" (2003), and "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World" (2011). It also includes the animated series "Spy Kids: Mission Critical" (2018). The first film grossed over $112 million domestically and the following films went on to earn over $550 million more. 

Rodriguez is probably best known for some of his other films which include "Desperado", "From Dusk Till Dawn", and "Sin City".
