A Classic Reawakens: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Returns in Stunning 4K

Disney has announced that it will be giving "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" a 4K restoration. The film will debut on Oct. 16 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company.

Disney Animation animator/director Eric Goldberg said, "The opportunity to help restore Snow White was both an honor and a challenge. He added that he. along with Disney Animation artist Mike Giaimo, "felt we owed a debt to history to get it looking as beautiful and as accurate to the original colors as we could."

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" has been adapted into numerous books, films, and other media over the years. The 1937 film was one of the first feature-length animated films ever created and remains a classic to this day. It even earned an honorary Oscar, one large Oscar statuette accompanied by seven smaller ones, which was presented to Walt Disney himself by a young Shirley Temple.

"The muted palette and the delicate watercolor backgrounds evoke the illustrated fairy tales that Walt so loved, and the story and characters continue to resonate to this day," said Goldberg.

The Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team performed the restoration, working closely alongside key artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
