Daniel Craig Signs On To Star in Remake of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

According to the Risky Biz Blog, Daniel Craig has signed on to star in the upcoming film, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". He will be playing Mikael Blomkvist, who is an investigative reporter in Stockholm who has a reputation for exposing corruption in the business and government.

The film follows Blomkvist after he loses a libel suit and faces jail time. However, he gets offered a job to investigate the disappearance of an industrialist's niece on a remote island, and works alongside Lisbeth Salander, a female hacker. What they uncover is evidence of religious killings, Nazism, incest, child abuse and murder.

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is being released by Sony Pictures and will be directed by David Fincher. Steve Zaillian is the scribe for the film, and Scott Rudin will produce.

The film is slated for a December 21, 2011 release.
