Paramount to Release "Top Gun 2"

Paramount Picture has announced that they will be releasing "Top Gun 2", and that Jerry Bruckheimer will be involved in production.

Tony Scott was also approached by the studio to direct the film, as well as Christopher McQuarrie, screenwriter for "The Usual Suspects".

Tom Cruise is said to be reprising his role, but in a smaller format. No word on if he will simply have a cameo, or be involved during the whole film.

The film will be funded by David Ellison, son of Oracle founder Larry Ellison. David founded the film company, Skydance Productions, and is an avid pilot. He will be funding the film as well as "Mission Impossible: 4" with a $350 million loan from JPMorganChase.
