It's been reported that CBS Films will be making an adaptation of the popular Vince Flynn book series featuring the story of a CIA agent named Mitch Rapp.  The film will based on the 11th book in the series, "American Assassin".

The 11th book in the series is a prequel, telling the back story of Rapp, who as a college student, experience tragedy that shaped him to become a ruthless CIA Agent who hunts terrorists. Originally. the film was to be based off of the book, "Consent to Kill".

Ed Zwick will be penning the script along with Marshall Herskovitz. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler will be producing along with Zwick and Herskovitz.

CBS Films president/CEO Amy Baer said "We were prepping Consent to Kill when Vince told us he was going to tell Mitch Rapp's origin story in American Assassin. From there it was a natural decision to introduce audiences to Mitch Rapp, the man before he became the legend."
