Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt Reunite for 'The Movie Critic'

Director Quentin Tarantino is once again teaming up with acclaimed actor Brad Pitt for the third time in what has been confirmed to be Tarantino's final directorial venture, "The Movie Critic." While details surrounding the film are still emerging, it is uncertain whether Pitt will be portraying the titular character, but speculation suggests he might be stepping into the shoes of the main protagonist.

This collaboration follows their previous successful partnerships in "Inglourious Basterds" and the Oscar-winning "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," where Pitt took home the Best Supporting Actor accolade. Given the track record of their previous collaborations, expectations are running high for "The Movie Critic."

In a recent interview at Cannes, Tarantino provided some insights into the film, shedding light on its setting and premise. Set in California in 1977, the movie revolves around a real-life individual who, despite never achieving fame, wrote movie reviews for an unconventional publication. Tarantino revealed that the inspiration for the film dates back to his teenage years when he had a job loading adult magazines into vending machines. He specifically recalls a porno magazine with an intriguing movie page, written by a critic he admired for their snarky and intelligent commentary. While the project is still evolving, Tarantino's comments at Cannes suggest a personal connection to the material, drawing inspiration from his own experiences.

As the pieces of "The Movie Critic" continue to fall into place, one aspect that remains uncertain is the film's distribution. However, given the success of their previous collaboration and Sony's support for Tarantino's artistic vision, it seems likely that the studio will once again play a pivotal role in bringing this final masterpiece to the big screen.

Stacey Sher is set to produce the film, and a targeted release date is 2025.
