According to Variety, Universal has adapted the Robert Ludlum novel, "The Sigma Protocol". Writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have been chosen to write the screenplay, and Marc Abraham and Eric Newman will be producing along with Paul L. Sandberg.
The story focuses on an investment banker who discovers a secret organization that has been manipulating the global economy. When the banker tries to expose the scheme, he's targeted for death.
Universal is also the studio responsible for bringing the smash hit Bourne series to the silver screen, based on the books by Ludlum. The film is scheduled to be released in 2009.
