Justin Timberlake has signed on to star in and produce the upcoming film "Spinning Gold". The film will be a biopic about the late record producer Neil Bogart. Bogart was the co-founder of Casablanca Records, which launched the careers of KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer, and The Village People.
Tim Bogart, son of Neil, has written the film about his father and tells of his launch to executive stardom. "This is saga about a young dreamer who started with nothing and came of age in the 60s and 70s, believing anything was possible and every risk was worth taking," said Tim. After meeting with Timberlake, Bogart said, "When Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years. He has the exact same energy as my father, the same glimmer in his eye."
The film will be released through Boardwalk Entertainment Group, which is owned by Tim Bogart and songwriter and music publisher Evan "Kidd" Bogart, and TV producer Gary Randall. Production is expected to begin before the end of 2012.
