Sony Pictures has announced that they will be debuting exclusive first looks for the upcoming films "Carrie" and "Evil Dead" at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 13th from the Javits Center.
"Carrie" will be a reboot of the horror classic, following the life of a young girl named Carrie White (played by Chloë Grace Moretz). She is shy and outcast by her peers in school. She is also quite sheltered and raised by an extremely religious mother (Julianne Moore). After being pushed too far at her senior prom, Carrie unleashes her wrath using her gift of telekinesis. The film will be released on march 15, 2013.
"Evil Dead" will also be a remake. The original was released in 1981 and is a cult classic. The plot follows five twenty-something friends who are holed up in a remote cabin and come across a Book of the Dead. The group unwittingly summons up demons located in the woods, and each person is subjected to possession until only one is left to fight for their life. The film is scheduled for a April 12, 2013 release.
New York Comic Con is taking place from October 11th-14th at the Javits Center (655 West 34th Street, New York). The panel presentations for "Carrie" and "Evil Dead" will take place between 3:45pm-4:45pm on October 13th. The Carrie panel will include the film's stars, Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, along with producer Kevin Misher and director Kimberly Peirce. Evil Dead's panel will include the film's star, Jane Levy ("Suburgatory"), producer (and star of original) Bruce Campbell and director, Fede Alvarez.
