Beyoncé Joins the Cast of The Lion King
It was announced on Wednesday that Beyoncé has joined the cast of Disney's upcoming live-action film, "The Lion King". She will be playing the role of Nala.

The film already has an all-star cast including James Earl Jones, who will be reprising his role of Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi. Also starring in the film is John Oliver, John Kani, Billy Eichner, Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph.

Jon Favreau will be directing the film, which will be a newer take on the 1994 animated classic. Favreau also directed Disney's live-action version of "The Jungle Book".

According to Disney, the film will feature "pioneering filmmaking techniques". 

"The Lion King" is slated for a July 19, 2019 release.
