Warner Bros. has announced that they plan on releasing at least 10 films exclusively for HBO Max in 2022. WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar spoke about the news during AT&T's second quarter earnings call.
"Clearly motion pictures matter and will continue to matter," Kilar said. "They also matter at home in terms of the response we've gotten," said Kilar.
It was also said that they will be going back to a traditional theatrical release strategy but with a shortened window for theatrical exclusivity. They will go from a 60 to 45 day window.
Kilar also said that we will "see this industry continue to evolve and innovate in ways that work for not only for consumers and fans but also for our business partners."
