ABOUT RAMAYANA: RISE OF A LEGEND
Prince Rama's story begins with a marriage that leads into a life-changing exile. With his princess wife beside him, the young heir leaves the familiar world of royal life and enters a journey shaped by duty, love and destiny. The film presents this departure not as an isolated hardship but as the first movement in a much larger epic: a prince bound by sacrifice is drawn toward a fateful connection with Ravana, an immortal king driven by vengeance. A prophecy links their paths, giving the personal choices at the heart of Rama's journey consequences that reach beyond the royal household.
This first chapter adapts the opening movement of the ancient Ramayana as a large-scale Hindi-language fantasy drama directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Its central tension is framed through the contrast between Rama's willingness to accept sacrifice and Ravana's pursuit of vengeance, while the prophecy binding them signals the larger conflict to come. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Yash plays Ravana; the film's theatrical release begins a planned two-part screen retelling. Rather than treating the story as a self-contained account of the epic's full conflict, this installment follows the early journey and sets up the challenges that will shape the continuing story.
