The new Warner Brothers film, "Sherlock Holmes" will be starring Robert Downey Jr. as the title role.  Guy Ritchie will be directing the film about the famous detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The film will "reinvent" the character of Sherlock Holmes, making him more adventurous than he is usually known to be.  The new persona is taken from an upcoming comic book by Lionel Wigram.

Joel Silver, Wigram, Susan Downey (Robert's wife) and Dan Lin are producing. The filming will begin this fall and the expected release date is October 2009.
