Harry Potter did not disappoint at the box office this weekend. The latest film in the franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1", earned an estimated $125.1 million domestically, which makes it the highest opening weekend grossing film in the franchise.
the staggering amount of sales has now brought the film's global total to $330.1 million so far.
The film opened on approximately 3,700 theatres across the country beginning late Thursday night. It has now surpassed the previous record holder in the franchise,"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", for biggest opening weekend earnings.
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 1" has also earned the title of 6th highest earning opening weekend film of all time, coming in close behind "Iron Man 2", which opened in May with $128 million.
