"The Beach", the 1996 novel by Alex Garland, will be getting a TV series adaptation. The drama will be developed by 20th Century Fox.

The story features a young couple and a Scotsman who tells of a beach that is inaccessible to tourists, located in the Gulf of Thailand. When the trio finds the beach, they see that it is inhabited by a self-sufficient community that has no ties to the outside world.

The book was also adapted in a film in 2000, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton and Guillaume Canet.
