With shooting due to begin this autumn in London, Disney's live action adaptation of Cinderella is starting to pick up a bit of pace; but as of yet, there has been no word on who may be putting on the glass slipper and play the title role. In the past, Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander and Gabriella Wilde have at some time been mentioned to star in the role, but now, Variety are claiming that British starlet Emma Watson will be the one going to the ball.

The former Harry Potter actress is apparently being courted by the studio for the movie, which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh. It will be based on the screenplay written by Chris Weitz who was responsible for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Cate Blanchett has already been confirmed to play Lady Tremaine, Cinerella's wicked stepmother.

Cinderella will be the forth movie based on a fairy tale Disney has adapted for live action in recent years; they started in 2010 with "Alice In Wonderland", "Oz The Great The Powerful" is due in theaters in a week's time and next year sees Angelina Jolie play the evil fairy Maleficent.
