Jean-Claude Van Damme has been chosen to star in an original scripted series for Amazon, and while we are used to seeing Van Damme in action films, this time, his role will be more of a comedic one.
The show is titled Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and will star Van Damme as a version of himself, a famous martial arts professional and actor who comes out of retirement to reprise his role of being an undercover private contractor named Jean-Claude Van Johnson. We will see his character "as the lead role in a reimagined action film version of Huckleberry Finn that lands him back in the midst of the danger he secretly always craves."
This will be the first TV project for Van Damme, who will be working with script writer Dave Callaham, who also makes his TV debut with this series.
Van Damme has recently starred in The Expendables, as well as lending his voice to the Kung Fu Panda 3 film.
