"Morbius" was once a scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disease and wound up changing himself forever, developing vampire-like traits. His story began in 1971 in Spider-Man #101.
The film was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space) and will be produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster. It has also been said that Daniel Espinosa will be directing.
Leto is said to have been waiting to commit to the film until it was heading in a direction he liked.
