Styles would join Halle Bailey, who will be playing the role of Ariel, as well as Melissa McCarthy, who is playing Ursula.
The Rob Marshall directed film will include original songs from the 1989 animated classic, as well as some original music from Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda. David Magee has written the script. Miranda is also producing the film alongside Marshall, Marc Platt, and John DeLuca.
This wouldn't be Styles' first time acting - he starred in 2017's "Dunkirk", directed by Christopher Nolan.
