The UK & Irish rights to Damien Leone's horror sequel Terrifier 3 has been acquired by Signature Entertainment from The Coven.
David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera are set to reprise their iconic roles in the upcoming Christmas-themed horror movie, which is slated to hit North American theaters on October 25, 2024.
This exciting news was announced in a recent statement saying that the sinister Art the Clown will once again "unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve." Filming for this horrifying holiday tale is set to commence in January 2024.
The third installment of this bone-chilling franchise is being produced by Phil Falcone, known for his work on the Terrifier franchise, and directed and written by Damien Leone, the creative mastermind behind Terrifier. The film is set to receive a significantly increased budget, falling within the low- to mid-seven-figure range, indicating the filmmakers' commitment to delivering an even more intense and nightmarish experience.
Terrifier 2, the previous film in the series, unexpectedly became a box office sensation, raking in a staggering $10.6 million at the North American box office and an additional $5 million internationally. This remarkable success was achieved on a modest budget of $250,000. The slasher sequel made headlines by selling out its world premiere at the UK's FrightFest and subsequently topping the UK digital download chart upon release. It even secured a spot in the UK's top 10 physical release chart across all platforms. Signature, the film's distributor, had previously released the first Terrifier film in 2018.
The UK distribution deal was expertly negotiated by Signature's Director of Acquisitions and TV, Elizabeth Williams, and The Coven CEO and Founder, Priscilla Ross Smith. Williams expressed her excitement about the ongoing partnership with Damien and The Coven for the third installment, saying, "Terrifier 3 feels like Damien at the top of his filmmaking craft, and we look forward to bringing another jaw-dropping experience to the UK in 2024." Horror fans can anticipate a spine-tingling cinematic journey when Terrifier 3 arrives in theaters later next year.
