The 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards took place last night at the Peacock Theater in L.A. and was hosted by Anthony Anderson. The awards ceremony, initially scheduled for September, was delayed due to the writers and actors strikes. Succession was crowned the best drama series, while The Bear claimed the title of the best comedy series. Beef received recognition as the best limited or anthology series, and RuPaul's Drag Race secured the award for the best reality competition program. Other winners included Last Week Tonight With John Oliver for best scripted variety series and The Daily Show With Trevor Noah for best talk series. Acting accolades were given to Ayo Edebiri, Jennifer Coolidge, Matthew Macfadyen, Quinta Brunson, Jeremy Allen White, Niecy Nash-Betts, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ali Wong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Paul Walter Hauser, and Steven Yeun. The Television Academy presented the 2023 Governors Award to GLAAD for its longstanding efforts in advocating for LGBTQ equality and representation in the media and entertainment industries.
