"Dead to Me" actress Linda Cardellini has signed on to portray Pamela Voorhees in Peacock's upcoming Friday the 13th series, Crystal Lake. Produced by acclaimed studio A24, this series will serve as a prequel to the iconic horror franchise.
While Peacock has yet to officially announce the detailed premise, it's speculated that the series will depict Pamela as a devoted mother who gives up a promising singing career to care for her special-needs child, eventually descending into darkness following a tragic loss.
Brad Caleb is attached as the creator and writer of Crystal Lake and will also serve as executive producer alongside representatives from A24, as well as Kane, Marc Toberoff, original creator Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil.
In the original 1980 film Friday the 13th, Pamela Voorhees was famously portrayed by actress Betsy Palmer. Pamela, seeking revenge against camp counselors following her son Jason’s drowning, was the franchise's original antagonist before her son, Jason Voorhees, took center stage in subsequent installments.
The Friday the 13th franchise remains one of horror's most enduring series, spanning more than 40 years across films, television adaptations, comic books, and video games.
Fans can next see Linda Cardellini starring in HBO's anticipated limited series DTF St. Louis.
