Every not-so-often, along comes a show that's different. Wonderfully different. It's the story of Ned, a lonely pie maker whose touch can reanimate the dead. Cool, but there's a hitch. If Ned touches the person again, the miracle is reversed. If he doesn't, a bystander goes toes up. What to do? Easy: Team with a private eye, bring murder victims back just long enough to discover whodunit, and collect the rewards. Things go well until Ned's boyhood sweetie is the next dear departed, and he can't resist bringing her back for keeps! Dig the wit, style and quirky romance: If you're not laughing, you may need a visit from Ned.
The surreal, Pushing Daisies, is back with the full Season 2 on DVD this July -- with new laughs to enjoy. This forensic fairytale follows Ned, a young man with a very special gift. As a boy, Ned discovered that he could return the dead briefly back to life with just one touch. Now a pie maker, Ned puts his ability to good use, not only touching dead fruit and making it ripe with everlasting flavor, but working with a private investigator to crack murder cases by raising the dead and getting them to name their killers. But the tale gets complicated when Ned brings his childhood sweetheart, Chuck, back from the dead -- and then keeps her alive! Chuck becomes the third partner in Ned and Emerson's private-investigation enterprise, encouraging them to use Ned's skills for good, not just for profit. Life would be perfect for Ned and Chuck, except for one cruel twist: If he ever touches her again, she will go back to being dead -- this time for good.
The first season of Pushing Daises was plagued by the Writers Guild Strike and had a hard time finding its audience. However, the television networks, “powers that be”, decided to give the show a second chance.
This season doesn’t miss a beat -- leaving right where season one left off with the talented Ned following his call in life, along with zany friends, and all the hijnx that ensue.
The video is presented in the now standard widescreen format enhanced for 16 x 9 televisions with a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. While the picture and audio is not demo grade quality, it definitely meets the need of the series.
Aside the episodes, Pushing Daises Season 2 contains a few supplemental treats to enjoy including, The Master Pie Maker, Secret Sweet Ingredients, and Add a Little Magic totaling about 20 minutes of behind the scenes footage, and interviews as an insight into the series.
Pushing Daises Season 2 serves as a bitter sweet prize, continuing the antics of the first season; however, also a final tribute to a show that ultimately got canceled since it could never find an audience beyond its core followers.
If you are in the mood for some great surrealistic comedy then definitely pick up Pushing Daises Season 2. It is a treat everyone can enjoy alamode.
