hi i'm allison rose with FlickDirect it's nice to meet you hey allison it's good to meet you too uh so your character in uh black is night i feel like every horror movie has to have like that funny or comic relief kind of thing yeah yeah i feel like that's your character so i yeah you'd be right yeah you'd be right yeah when i first read the film i could tell that this was a comedic relief and you know i love comedy so i was very excited to to be able to play into that well but it's harder people say to play comedy than drama did you find that at all um i don't know i think each have they're each so different i think what's important that the two shares just being honest i think people laugh in moments of honesty whether it be the way you might move your lip unexpectedly or your eyes or your you know the timing it is comedy is very very structured if you want it to be but um at the end of the day i think what's great materials honesty both in dramatic art and and comedic very true i like that answer a lot um how much fun was it shooting with this cast making this movie oh it was the worst it's the worst no are you kidding me they they are you know these are people i still talk to on a daily basis um you know we have a group we have a group chat it's like fam it's like it's frankie abby asia and mason or two f's because i'm i'm another f fabrizio frankie and for brazil so you know we're always talking i love the the cast i love that you know our director our crew it was it was really a good time and then it wasn't because the pandemic hit and we had to take a break for four months but then we came back and i had already known everyone so i was so excited to see him again and uh i felt really you know i felt really safe because this was the whole pandemic thing was very new to work through something like that and you know i i had trust in the crew i trust in our cast mates and you know i can say we didn't have a covet case and this was prior to vaccines prior to anything like that and it was handled really well and everyone was very responsible and i i couldn't have asked for a better set of people to go through go through that with in in a way while the pandemic was not fun for anyone um it's still going on but it was good for you guys because you were i'm guessing we're still in contact and so you were able to uh make that familiarity that you're supposed to have on screen real yeah i mean i i think giving us time away also like made us miss each other so we were like extra enthusiastic and also very you know being stuck at home in that time frame for four months and being like hey you're gonna be back on set it was like please please i will do anything to stay here like it was you know we were all very excited to be out of the house going for a walk you know yeah i can absolutely relate yeah um so vampires in new orleans is not necessarily a new concept um so i i asked craig just before how did you make it fresh so for you what did you plan your mind to to make it different or fresh or or did you well i don't i don't even think it's something that well i wanted to keep everything fresh for my character uh because i throughout the movie i'm discovering vampires it's not like i know about vampires right pedro is is discovering vampires through this whole predicament that he's in so everything was new everything was fresh um i thought that new orleans was a beautiful city to set this whole vampire thing in i think that's why you see it so much um just because it it just plays so well uh but i i've always loved vampires like i i i kid you not like as a kid i i was like probably in kindergarten kindergarten through like i don't know first grade i would go to show up to school and uh i'd like pop my collar and sometimes like hide my vampire teeth in there for like a whole two years so i was obsessed with vampires as a kid so this was very exciting to be a part of what is it about vampires because i have to tell you i am fascinated by the idea of vampires so is it the mystery is it the someone asked me that i think it might be the mystery because i remember as a kid i never officially told any of my classmates or teachers that i was a vampire my goal was to have them think like hey is he maybe a vampire i think so i think it is that the lure really is the mystery of a vampire i mean i i now it seems so silly to me i couldn't be a vampire you can't go grocery shopping because there's garlic everywhere you can't you can't do everyday tasks you can't eat a slice of pizza because of garlic you can't you can't you're missing out on some really good food right what is this world yeah anyway um so you this was your first time in new orleans correct yeah this was my first time in new orleans and what did you think of the city as a whole it's got so much culture to it i love new orleans i mean it's it's it's a rich city it's super lively and you know just seeing everything every building's like at least 100 years old uh you know and and you hear so much about new orleans and i you know i was fortunate enough to be there uh during mardi gras so i got to experience that and uh you know i had i had a lot of fun with our cast mates who some you know some were from other places others were locals uh so throughout the locals i was able to see the city through their eyes and they would take me places and it was it was a lot of fun i mean it you know the people really make this city and and it's a city that i that i admire for many different reasons um and i love not i would not mind going back to new or new orleans yeah it's a great place to visit absolutely so for your character how do you feel did he evolve during all of this um would you have liked to see him evolve further i think every step of the way uh all the characters were evolving everything was new i mean you have kids fighting vampires it's a coming-of-age story then they're also taking on these supernatural tasks right so you know pedro's definitely evolved got out of his comfort zone through the vampires and i think through slaying vampires it was like you know what going to school is going to be nothing for me you know like if i could survive this vampire thing like i could i can do anything um so i i think the film is really rooted in you know in the evolution of each character whether it be shauna you know and and her feelings towards you know this this kind of i don't know this world that's going on underneath new orleans that's moving everything with the vampires and overcoming you know her mom's death and getting redemption and all that yeah i think evolution is a huge part of this movie yeah i tend to agree with you in that case um but what would you like people to take away from specifically your character the movie as a whole but your character yeah i uh well you know i think you know one thing i really admire about pedro's uh his loyalty and his love to his friends right i think that i think that that's one of the most important things in life is is uh you know being there for the people that need you pedro someone that i would want by my side uh in case vampires ever came through or even just to party with you know uh pedro's a great character yeah so so you know it's also going for the things that that scare you you know going for them for what scares you and and and you know obviously if it's beneficial like beneficial don't go like yeah i'm gonna go swim with a shark um or do that too if you want to i don't i don't know i'm not i'm not one to judge but um yeah it is it is like you know the things that scare you but that you want to do because on the other side you know lives that freedom and that that power that that you can hold yeah and to see such young people come into their own and gain their power from this fight is terrific so i really enjoyed the film and uh i love your character good to hear thank you thank you comic relief and yeah thank you so much for your time and i can't wait for people to see it october 1st amazon prime yeah you
