It is the end of day four of CinemaCon 2024 and it is time once again to wrap up our coverage. Today the convention had presentations from Paramount Pictures and Disney, and, of course, their annual Big Screen Achievement Awards (see the list of winners below).

Paramount Pictures Presentation

Paramount Pictures began the morning with a group of gladiators and a chariot delivering the vice president for distribution to the stage. Then the audience was treated to an extended trailer of IF starring Ryan Reynolds. After discussing upcoming projects for 2025 and 2026 including Heart of the Beast, BeeGees, The Last Ronin, and a new installment of Scary Movie, they showed an extended clip of the animated film Transformers One. Next, Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn came to the stage to introduce footage of A Quiet Place Day One. Finally, footage from Gladiator II was shown to great applause from the crowd.

Disney's Showcase

The last presentation of CinemaCon 2024 was from the powerhouse, Disney. This included Searchlight Pictures, 20th Century Studios, Marvel Studios, Pixar, and Lucas Films. First up, Kingdom of the Planets of the Apes followed by 35 minutes of Inside Out 2. Marvel's portion of the presentation included a discussion by Kevin Feige on Deadpool and Wolverine, The Fantastic Four, and Captain America: Brave New World with Anthony Mackie. Next up was footage from Aliens Romulous, The Amateur with Rami Malek, and the live-action film Mufasa The Lion King. Finally, Dwayne Johnson introduced footage from Moana 2 which looked incredible, before receiving the award for the State of the Industry. 75 minutes of footage was shown during the Disney presentation making it the studio that brought the most new content for theater owners.

Awards Ceremony

At 7:30 in the evening, host Kevin Frazier from Entertainment Tonight started the awards show and offered mini-biographies for all the awardees. Here is the full list of winners and the awards they won:

  • VIOLA DAVIS TRAILBLAZER AWARD - Geena Davis

  • LUPITA NYONG'O STAR OF THE YEAR AWARD - Lupita Nyong'o

With a week full of some great looking movies, it wouldn't surprise me if 2024 is a banner year at the box office.
