— It’s a wrap on CinemaCon 2025, and day 4 brought out the stars and some great trailers. Starting us off with the morning presentation was Paramount Pictures, which has been celebrating 100 years for the past few years and doesn’t show any signs of stopping now.
After a very cool bicycle stunt team performance and before discussing the rest of the 2025 slate, President and CEO Brian Robbins offered up some titles coming in 2026 including Children of Blood and Bone, Heart of the Beast, an untitled South Park film, Sonic 4, and Scream 7, which will see the return of Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell).
Back to 2025, Paramount brought director Edgar Wright and stars Glen Powell, two-time Oscar nominee Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin out to talk about and show a clip from a remake of the 1987 film, The Running Man. Up next was the Animation division with Paw Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Then, of course, they had to spend some time talking about the new Smurfs movie, which combines animation with live action and will showcase music by one of the film’s stars, Rihanna. Paramount ended the animation section with The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, revealing that Mark Hamill will voice the antagonist, The Flying Dutchman.
Next in their presentation was a sizzle reel for The Naked Gun, which stars Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson. Channing Tatum took the stage to talk about his new film, based on a true story (as told by a liar), Roofman. Finally, Tom Cruise took the stage to give his good friend, Christopher McQuarrie, the CinemaCon Director of the Year award and show some footage of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning. He also started his segment with a few words about Val Kilmer, who passed away from pneumonia a few days ago, and asked the audience to take a moment of reflection to remember the actor.
Lunch was then sponsored by Fathom Entertainment, among other CinemaCon partners, where our good friend Ray Nutt spoke about Fathom’s incredible increases in sales in the past two years before discussing their upcoming year with The Chosen Season 5, The Sound of Music’s sixtieth anniversary, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest fiftieth anniversary, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and their anime offerings. The industry talk that followed was a panel with the cast and director of The Running Man.
The last presentation of the day was Disney’s, who started things off with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis and their new movie, Freakier Friday, which looks just as good as the first one. Disney was also the only studio that allowed audience members to film and/or take photos of the celebrities on stage. Next, Jeff Bridges and Jared Leto discussed Tron: Ares while they introduced a sizzle reel.
Then Elle Fanning came out to talk about Predator: Badlands and showed some footage that will make us all rethink the ugly aliens before Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong discussed the Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me from Nowhere, that will be a must-see for any Springsteen fan.
After a quick wardrobe change, Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the stage, this time with Emma Mackey to 1) discuss their movie, Ella McCay, and 2) present the movie’s director, James L. Brooks, with the Cinema Vérité Award. Searchlight gave us an extended trailer of The Roses starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman before the cast of The Thunderbolts* graced the stage and offered the audience a glimpse of their film.
Pixar was next to present and brought Zoe Saldaña out to introduce an Elio clip, Ke Huy Quan to discuss Zootopia 2, and Saldaña once again to describe Avatar: Fire and Ash before presenting some clips of each, with two of the three being seen in 3D.
The evening ended as it does every year, with the Big Screen Achievement Awards hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frasier. Below is the list of honorees:
