what's going on guys it's austin from FlickDirect talking to darren and jiren on never have i ever guys how are you doing good afternoon good afternoon so first thing last was this and i gotta be completely honest with you all i did not know the show existed until last week i binged it because i loved it that much it was so good you guys are phenomenal on the show as well let you know so the first question i gotta ask is this there is a lot that's happened between i mean not just the entire show but seasons two and three so what was probably the most exciting thing for your characters jumping back and going from seasons two to three paxton having to carve out an entirely different path for himself and learning things about himself that were i think always there but he had to really dig deep to find them and develop them you know which is such as having to try in school and finding an academic route to college and figuring out you know what he wants to do other than being a swimmer which who knows that might have not made him to the olympics he would have had to figure this out sooner rather than later so yeah finding that new path for you jared i think for me it's watching ben peel back layers of that onion because i think that underneath ben's loud brash persona there is that like quiet lonely vulnerable kid who's like really desiring love and affection and between season two and three like you're gonna get to end of three and be like oh my gosh wow oh yeah there's so much of a journey that ben's going through and and he like really has like a bit of a identity crisis in a certain sense of the word and like he he may or may not wind up in the hospital and there's a lot that ben's going through and i think it's just so interesting to watch how he deals with that and to celebrate his growth i think that i can look back at the end of the third season and say you know what he has a long way to go but i'm proud of him darren in season three you say a very iconic film line in season three how tempting was it to not use that voice as you said that line man i wanted to do a lot of different things for that but they were like let's not make it corny let's not try too far let's do this and i was like all right that's one of the harder lines i've ever had to deliver because i was like this is gonna either land or not and i'm certain that a lot of people won't find that it lands because you can't just say i'm batman regularly get away with it you know i was waiting for like the christian bill going like oh he said it's still right there you're not a batman voice uh uh i mean my i you know i'm aging myself my background my batman's more like michael keaton dude your own batman voice i don't know do you have one no i'm a bad man swear to me oh yeah that was good right there man come on so you to have some awesome people narrating your stories you for any time or what's jealous about that because annie sandberg is an awesome guy and you have gigi handed i think her name is if if you could have if they weren't narrating your stories do you have any personal choices who would have had you guys narrate your seasons we can actually name each other's oh really yeah darren would have morgan freeman yeah and just so i can prove that i know exactly jared would have one two three robin williams holy yeah yeah we've got the mental connection we're pretty good what to say you guys got that like some patico over here we are let's talk about the first like the first day on set compared to last day on season three talk about how different those days were from each other first day on season one i think all of us were like not even ready for the ride we were about to take because it was like we had no idea if we were gonna get renewed or like if like i was like i might get cut from season two like i have no idea like i was we i think we're all a little bit nervous um ending season three we were i don't think we had time to process because we directly went in like seven weeks after into shooting season four so i'm getting jumbled in my head right now you've been talking about season three i'm about to give away spoilers i already did it before i'm not gonna lie a little bit and then pj had to catch me but oh it's wild it's wild um it was really special i think that we were all really excited when we started that first day and we just knew that we had something special i think that when you have two leaders like mindy kaling and lang fisher as your co-creators you know that it's going to really be a hit and i still don't think that i've wrapped my mind around even the scope of it now i think that we we've even finished the fourth season and i know it's killing me not to tell you this but wow even after having finished the fourth season and knowing like how many people around the world in all different kinds of countries and and all people of all backgrounds and ages and ethnicities like still it's mind-blowing to me how much people love the show and i'm just so thankful and i think we all are we're so grateful to be on a show that means so much to so many people and that can be such a light in their lives and uh and bring them so much joy and comfort that it just really makes you stop for a second and say wow i'm i'm just so happy and i'm so thankful to be on this show and to have these characters that are so complex and multi-dimensional it's just it's a blessing come true it's a dream come true really i think of mindy kaling who is a comedic genius how has been working with such a star and icon like her she is brilliant at what she does and i mean writing a show like a hit show like the office and then being able to work with one of the main writers on that show has been insane because she makes it hit just as much in our show there's still so much of the same humor but she's had to kind of dial it in a different direction for a different audience which is such a talent in itself there is something about mindy it's so funny i do you ever meet those people where you're like you've never seen them mad but you don't want to see him mad maybe he has such a commanding presence to her that she's so sweet and like soft-spoken all the time but i'm like i never want to piss her off like she commands such respect in a room it's kind of wild i feel like for for me and i i think that minnie's like such a great leader and when you like are around mindy you're just like becoming a better person like she's so kind and she's so welcoming and warm and she is like such a like massive titan in our industry and she's doing such groundbreaking incredible things but like she's the nicest person and she really cares about you as a human being like she always asks me like how i'm doing and like on a personal level like she really cares she cares about you professionally she cares about you personally and she's there for you and for someone who's so busy and like accomplishes so many things and she's also a mom like she literally is like wonder woman and her and like both they care about us they care about us as people and they care about the show so much like i don't think that we could have asked for two better leaders and like i they definitely inspire us yeah for sure they're they're some of our biggest role models there's also like a really cool aunts you know it's cool so guys i just want to say congratulations on the show i now that i know that season fours i mean also congratulations on season four coming graduation's on wrapping i can't believe you guys already finished but neither congrats and i can't wait to see the journey that you guys go through on season four knowing the bombshell that season three ended i won't spoil it but thank you guys so much congratulations once again thank you
