Walt Disney Studios and Tivo Team Up For Exclusive Content

Walt Disney Studios and TiVo are teaming up to bring on demand videos to TiVo owners. The new service, which was announced on Wednesday, will be available to those subscribers with Internet-ready Series2 and Series3 terminals via CinemaNow. The standard videos will be available for 24 hours after they are purchased, but no specifics were given on HD rentals.

TiVo currently offers rentals form Amazon Unbox, Music Choice and more than 50 other providers.  While critics say that the Disney rentals may simply be too much for the busy user interface, it is definite that this will give TiVo a competitive edge over Apple TV and Vudu, who don't have as many choices.

The service is rumored to be released this summer, but there is no confirmation of that as of yet.
