Reese Witherspoon to Star as Peggy Lee in Upcoming Biopic

According to Variety, Reese Witherspoon is currently in talks to star as Peggy Lee, in the upcoming biopic written by Nora Ephron. Witherspoon will also be producing the film with Marc Platt.

Peggy Lee was a jazz singer, songwriter, composer and actress who gained prominence in the 1940s with her first hit, "Somebody Else is Taking My Place". She then went on to have a career that lasted almost seven decades.

Witherspoon acquired the rights to the story from Lee's estate after meeting with Holly Foster-Wells, Lee's granddaughter.  She then went to Nora Ephron to pen the script. The two had worked together previously on the "Legally Blonde" franchise.
