According to Variety, the upcoming "Superman" film currently has three contenders for the lead female role, and it isn't Lois Lane.

There is no word on what character the female lead role will be, but it is said they didn't want a big name to overshadow Henry Cavill, who is set to play Superman. Actresses vying for the female role are Diane Kruger ("Inglourious Basterds," "National Treasure") along with Brits Alice Eve ("She's Out of My League"), and Rosamund Pike ("Die Another Day," "An Education").

It is also said that Warner Bros. is currently looking for a villain for the film, but there is no word on what villain or who would play them.

Filming for the Christopher Nolan produced film is to begin this Summer.
