AMC had opted not to renew the series for a third season, however, they are currently in talks with Netflix to continue the show through their service. This comes after Fox Studios vowed to find another home for the series and had shopped around to various buyers before dealing with Netflix.
"The Killing" was launched in 2011 to rave reviews and strong viewership. However, season 2 never quite picked up where the previous season left off as far as ratings.
