A new five-year, $500 million agreement will bring every series in The Walking Dead universe to Netflix and AMC+ beginning in 2027.
Fans of The Walking Dead will soon have one place to stream every chapter of the franchise.
AMC Global Media and Netflix announced a five-year, $500 million licensing agreement that will make every series in The Walking Dead universe available across Netflix and AMC+ beginning in 2027.
The agreement includes the original series along with Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tales of The Walking Dead, bringing together 371 episodes spanning more than a decade of storytelling.
Availability will vary by territory as existing streaming agreements expire worldwide.
Netflix has been the exclusive U.S. streaming home of The Walking Dead since 2011, introducing the series to millions of viewers throughout its run. Under the new agreement, the service will continue streaming the flagship series while expanding availability of the broader franchise internationally, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand.
The biggest change is that AMC+ will stream the original The Walking Dead for the first time. Until now, the service has carried several of the franchise's newer series, but not the show that launched the phenomenon.
"Audiences have discovered and loved The Walking Dead on Netflix for nearly 15 years, and the show continues to attract new fans," said Lori Conkling, Vice President of Licensing at Netflix. "We're excited to partner with AMC Global Media to continue expanding that access to audiences around the world and bring the entirety of The Walking Dead universe to Netflix."
AMC Global Media CEO Kristin Dolan called the agreement an important milestone for both companies and longtime fans of the franchise.
"We are thrilled to expand our long-time partnership with Netflix around The Walking Dead," Dolan said. "This deal creates a global destination for this universe, making the franchise more accessible than ever to fans around the world."
The agreement also allows AMC+ subscribers to stream the original The Walking Dead for the first time beginning next year, bringing every television series in the franchise together under one streaming home for AMC audiences.
Premiering in 2010, The Walking Dead quickly became one of cable television's biggest hits, evolving into a global franchise that expanded well beyond its original series. Multiple spinoffs introduced new characters, revisited fan favorites, and explored different corners of the same post-apocalyptic world.
Beginning in 2027, longtime fans and newcomers alike will have a simpler way to experience the complete The Walking Dead universe across Netflix and AMC+, with additional series becoming available as existing licensing agreements conclude.
