Netflix Renews Gentefied for Second Season
Netflix has renewed "Gentefied" for a second season.
Created by Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez, the series is based on a 2017 Sundance web series of the same name and centers around the life of three Mexican-American cousins who live in Boyle Heights, L.A., a predominantly Latino neighborhood. The series showcases the struggle of the cousins trying to keep their grandfather's taco business afloat in a neighborhood that is becoming gentrified.
"Marvin had this vision for creating something very high quality about our community, and that for me was everything I had been wanting to do for years and was fighting to do. And when he told me it was also a paid opportunity, I was like ‘OK, let's do this.'", said Chavez in an interview with NBC News.
The series stars Karrie Martin, JJ Soria, Carlos Santos, and Joaquín Cosio.
