Kojima Productions and Hammerstone Studios have announced that they developing a film adaptation of the popular video game "Death Stranding".
"I couldn't be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios. This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I'm really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen," said Hideo Kojima.
Hammerstone Studios' Alex Lebovici also commented, saying, "We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to partner with brilliant and iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation. Unlike other big budget tentpole video game adaptations, this will be something far more intimate and grounded. There's no word yet on what the plot will be, but it is being said that there will be new elements and characters introduced into the universe.
"Death Stranding" was released in 2019 on PlayStation 4, and has an impressive cast including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro, and Margaret Qualley. The release of "Death Stranding 2" was announced on December 8 at The Game Awards.
