Sony Pictures Shifts Release Schedule: Bad Bunny-led 'El Muerto' Removed

Sony Pictures has decided to remove the Bad Bunny-led "El Muerto" from its release schedule. The film was originally set to premiere on January 12, 2024.

The Spider-Man spinoff, which would be the first Latino-led Marvel live-action film, is still said to be in development and Jonas Cuarón will direct. Some reasons for the rescheduling are the WGA strike and Bad Bunny's tour schedule.

"The Book of Clarence", which stars LaKeith Stanfield, will take the January 2024 slot. The film follows the story of a 29 AD citizen of Jerusalem, Clarence, who decides to capitalize on the popularity of Jesus for his own personal gain. The Jeymes Samuel film is a modern take on a story that is set in biblical times.

Another move was that of the GameStop film "Dumb Money", starring Paul Dano, which was moved from its October 20, 2023 release date to a September 22 release. Directed by Craig Gillespi, it tells the true story of the GameStop/Wall Street saga and also stars Pete Davidson, Vincent D'Onofrio, America Ferrera, Nick Offerman, Anthony Ramos, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley, and Seth Rogen.
