Atomic Monster's Gary Dauberman and James Wan have teamed up to bring a live-action remake of the 1990s cartoon series, Gargoyles, to Disney+.  Dauberman will take on the role of writer, executive producer, and showrunner while Wan and Michael Clear will executive produce.

Airing for three seasons, from 1994 to 1997, Gargoyles was created by Walt Disney Television Animation.  The premise involved gargoyle statues that were moved from a castle in Scotland to modern-day New York,  awakening from a thousand-year-old spell and taking on the mantle of protecting the city, becoming "stone by day, warriors by night".

The Gargoyles series came during a period of innovation in series animation where shows such as Batman: The Animated Series and X-Men were creating more complex storylines with darker tones.  Along with those shows, Gargoyles became planted in the minds of a generation of TV watchers who have now grown up and given it cult status.

Around the same time Disney made The Sorcerer's Apprentice in 2010, they were also considering making Gargoyles into a feature film, but when the former movie failed at the box office, the project was shelved.

Dauberman is known for writing Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, and Annabelle Comes Homes, all of which were produced by Atomic Monster.  They are a part of Wan's The Conjuring Universe, the highest-grossing horror franchise of all time. Doberman also penned the Conjuring spinoff The Nun.

The Dauberman/Atomic Monster collaboration has had incredible box office success in the past and has allowed Doberman to not only write films but to direct, as well. He made his directorial debut with Annabelle Comes Home.  And the two also worked together on Swamp Thing, the short-lived series based on the DC character that streamed on the now-defunct DC Universe platform.

Dauberman's name has become synonymous with horror as he adapted Stephen King's novel, It, for the big screen. Split into two feature-length films, the first part became the highest-grossing horror movie of all time. He also wrote and directed King's Salem's Lot, for Warner Bros.

Atomic Monster was one of the production companies behind the hit M3GAN, and it is currently developing a series adaptation of the comic The Good Asian, as well as,= a feature adaptation of the video game Dead by Daylight.
