Update: Ian McKellen Recovering After On-Stage Fall at London Theater

Actor Ian McKellen is on the mend after a fall during a performance at a London theater, according to a statement from the producers of the play in which he is starring.

"Following a scan, the brilliant NHS team have assured us that he will make a speedy and full recovery and Ian is in good spirits," the statement read. "The production has made the decision to cancel the performance on (Tuesday, June 18) so Ian can rest."

The producers of "Player Kings" thanked the audience and the public for their well wishes after McKellen's fall on Monday night. They also expressed appreciation to two doctors in the audience for their assistance.

McKellen is currently in the midst of a 12-week run of the three-hour show at the Noël Coward Theatre, starring alongside Richard Coyle and "Ted Lasso" actor Toheeb Jimoh.
