Lionsgate Television is currently developing a new TV series set in the "John Wick" universe, titled "John Wick: Under the High Table." Variety has confirmed that the project is in the works, although no network or streaming service is attached at this time. The series will pick up immediately following the "John Wick: Chapter 4 events," diving deeper into the intricate world that fans have come to know and love.
The series will explore the aftermath of John Wick's departure from the High Table, leaving a precarious situation in its wake. Viewers can expect a mix of new characters and familiar faces from the franchise, as they navigate the shifting power dynamics within this high-stakes universe. The show promises to blend fresh narratives with established lore, pushing the Wick saga into a new era.
This upcoming series will mark the second television venture within the "John Wick" franchise, following the miniseries "The Continental: From the World of John Wick." That series, which served as a prequel to the films, was initially set to air on Starz but eventually premiered on Peacock in the fall of 2023. Since the original "John Wick" film debuted in 2014, the franchise has expanded significantly, with a fourth film released in 2023 and a fifth installment currently in development. Additionally, a spinoff film titled "John Wick Presents: Ballerina," featuring Ana de Armas, is set to hit theaters in 2025. With such a rich universe to explore, the future of "John Wick" looks promising.
Keanu Reeves will serve as an executive producer alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee of Thunder Road. Chad Stahelski is also on board as an executive producer through his company, 87Eleven Entertainment. Stahelski, who directed the previous films in the franchise, will also helm the pilot episode. The writing duties will be managed by Robert Levine, known for his work on "The Old Man" and "Black Sails," who will also act as showrunner and executive producer.
