Amazon MGM Studios, in conjunction with FlickDirect, is giving South Florida movie fans the opportunity to see I PLAY ROCKY early at a free advance screening in Boynton Beach on November 11.

Before Sylvester Stallone became Rocky Balboa, he was an unknown actor struggling to convince Hollywood to give him a chance. His determination to bring the character to life is the subject of I PLAY ROCKY, the new biographical drama directed by Peter Farrelly. FlickDirect readers can see the film early at a special advance screening in Boynton Beach on Wednesday, November 11.

Anthony Ippolito stars as a young Stallone, an aspiring actor and screenwriter who believes he has written the role that could change his life. Hollywood is interested in his screenplay for Rocky, but there's a catch: the studios want the script without him in the starring role.

Stallone refuses to sell unless he can play Rocky himself. It's a decision that puts his future on the line, particularly when established actors could bring the project more attention and financial security. With little money and even fewer opportunities, he holds out for the chance to prove that he belongs in front of the camera.

The story behind Rocky has become almost as famous as the film itself. Released in 1976, the original movie went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture and launch one of Hollywood's most enduring franchises. I PLAY ROCKY looks back at the years when none of that success was guaranteed.

Farrelly, whose directing credits include the Academy Award-winning Green Book, brings the story to the screen from a screenplay by Peter Gamble. The cast also includes Matt Dillon, AnnaSophia Robb, P.J. Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, and Stephan James.

I PLAY ROCKY is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in West Palm Beach beginning November 13, followed by a nationwide opening on November 20, 2026.
