hi i'm allison with FlickDirect and i'm here with Alexandra Shipp and Luna the lens for shaft hello ladies good morning so let's talk about the women in this film they are so independent and empowered how does it feel to relate that on screen to audiences phenomenal yeah it actually feels really good yeah I mean I think that when you watch these shaft movies from the past the women have kind of been subsidiary characters and so it's really nice for us to show these strong powerful take no jive than that jive Turkey from that Chad Turkey no but you know yeah it's actually it's funny of this spectrum do you know like you have the three women are very different in essence you playing a villain is a very different role for me but they all are equally powerful strong my kiss aggressive yeah and it feels that's a really nice change you know to have that kind of representation in the film so let's talk a little bit about her because Beni when she gets out of jail now that el gordito is is dead is she gonna take over she is yeah I mean she has her written all over her face she really doesn't she said she's an interesting character I think and I I feel like I'd love to see wherever that goes you're heavy I think that would be an interesting dynamic like that motherly almost instinct but she really doesn't necessarily have that as much so yeah I think that's the next few more bats one of those like aluminum ones that are like I think are they're gonna find out that you're really my daughter we are writing the next I love it already let's talk about power you have two movies in theaters this weekend what is that like for you it's exciting I didn't plan it a week apart I was like she's just not gonna sleep for June okay it's gonna be fun yeah well it certainly means that you're in demand as an actress that's got to be a great feeling it is a good feeling uh you know we'll see how how high the demand is just keep it going and see how many people liked the movie and where we can go from there you can sleep next year I mean I mean I don't have kids I'm good kids because you never sleep exactly hit right here this screen that the might be Miami Beach American Black Film Festival boy that's a mouthful why are Film Festival is so important and particularly this one particularly this one I think because not only does it showcase all kinds of talent and really feature african-american people of color but but to represent not just in front of the camera but behind the camera you know and and create this forum where people can actually see themselves as the director as a DP as in various roles that most people don't even think of but that make up this whole world of film and just really introduces the idea or not even introduce it because it exists but moves fo with the idea of possibility and move and this continuum that everything that we have to make film we it's right here all right very quickly give me your best samuel l.jackson impression I think what can you undo button curse [Music] thank you guys so much for your time I really really loved the film I laughed throughout and I thought it was great thank you both [Music]
