South Florida filmmaker David Liz debuted his horror/thriller movie, The Welder at 2021's Popcorn Frights Film Festival.  FlickDirect Correspondent Allison Rose spoke with him about debuting the movie locally considering it was filmed in Homestead. In this ambitious and unsettling Florida-set horror film, a young couple travels to the Everglades to help relieve their anxiety and to bring them closer together. What at first appears to be a seemingly pastoral paradise soon transforms into a sinister, dread-soaked nightmare as a vicious madman terrorizes them for his demented experiments. Brilliantly merging the horrors of Frankenstein and Get Out, this shocking thriller carries a powerful message, especially during today’s unhinged times.
