Wonka Home Release Exclusive: Calah Lane Talks Fun & Dreams

Hey, I'm Allison with FlickDirect and I am here with Calah Lane. We're talking about Wonka coming out for the home release. Hello. How are you? Good. How about you? I'm doing great. I just want to call you Noodle because I love the character so much because you did such an amazing job playing her. Do people call you Noodle now a lot? My dad does. He's always like, hey, Noodle, come do the dishes.

Well, that'll knock you down a few pegs real quick. I'm in this huge movie and yet I have to go do the dishes. Anyway, I feel as though Noodle is kind of the adult in this relationship at times with Willie. Was that in the script, that attitude, or did that come from you when you read it or was that also partially Paul? That is exactly what Paul wanted.

He wanted Willie to feel like the kid. He wanted Noodle to be kind of like going around and teaching him and making him understand because Willie's kind of like in his own mind. So he's kind of like in his own world and she's kind of like bringing him back to reality. So I feel like Noodle's definitely like that mom, that mom image for Willie. Yeah, she's the one telling him to go do the dishes.

Yeah, exactly. Or the laundry in the movie. What is your favorite scene in the movie, either one that you're in or that you just watch every time and say, this is just amazing? Well, one, I love the one that's on top of the gallery gourmet of us dancing. That's really fun. But I also love the scene in the chocolate shop where he sings a world of your own, because I feel like I love that part so much because when I walked onto that set, that was the most colorful set.

I think that was the most colorful of all the sets. So walking in there because I mean, I'm Noodle, so my sets are like, you know, it's all all and all that stuff. So walking onto that set, it was just like crazy. And I remember hearing Timmy sing and it was just like so magical, so magical. And you have a beautiful voice and I absolutely love it. What when you had the song going through your head, did you think, oh, I want to sing it this way or that way?

Or was there again, was that Paul? It was definitely it wasn't Paul that created like the melody to the song, of course. But it was but when I once I first got the audition, it had the song on there and I had no idea what I was listening. They didn't give me anything to listen to. So I just thought for a moment life doesn't seem quite so bad. So I'm like, well, how do I how am I supposed to sing this?

And that's the audition. So I was like for a moment, I was just thinking I was just like singing in this weird melody. It was not like the melody. Yeah, I that should be in the outtakes. Yeah, I want to say on the home release. I know, but it should be just because of that. How much fun did you guys have on set with? I mean, working with Timmy, Timothy, that is such a talent.

But how much fun did you guys have? We had so much fun. I mean, I can't speak on behalf of everybody else, but I know that I had fun. Definitely. I had so much fun. I mean, like, but once I first got there, you know, I was a little kid on set. So, like, I mean, I thought it was everybody was going to treat me like a little kid. But once I actually got there and like everybody started talking to me, they just treated me like another actress.

I mean, like everything was just great. I mean, I feel like we just became a Wonka family. Yeah. And for people who maybe didn't get to see it in the theaters, which it is still in the theaters, which is so rare. Paul and I were talking about that, to have the home release coming out while it's still in theater. For people who are just getting the home release, what would you say to them about this film?

I would say that it's a film that just gets you. It gives you a big, warm hug and it teaches you to follow your dreams. Don't let anybody stop you in your way. And it's very funny also. So you'll enjoy every bit of it. I love it. I watched it in the theater. I watched it last night. I could watch it again. It's so great. Thank you for your time. You are terrific, and I can't wait to see what you'll be doing in the future.
