Hey everybody and welcome back to this week's episode of Flick News. Izola here with FlickDirect and if you're new to the channel, this is where I kind of just give you some updates on what's happening in the movie industry. You know, some movie news that you may have missed in the past week. So grab your popcorn, sit back, relax, and let's get this started.

So I first just wanted to start off and briefly mention the unfortunate circumstances that a lot of us are in in Southern California. The LA fires have just been devastating. Towards the end of this, I will be putting up some things where if you want to donate, if you are out of state or out of town, pretty much any place that you can help with humans and animals alike, because everybody is really suffering.

Right now. And I just wanted to share that because every little bit helps. So be sure to check at the end and also in the description. I'll leave some links to creditable sources and places where you can help out because of the fires. Thank you. First off, we'll just start off with Universal. They've been actually making a lot of changes to their animated movie list.

So I figured I would just kind of share that with you. And then I'll kind of give you an update on what's happening. And first off is Shrek 5. So this was actually set to be released in July of 2026, but they have actually pushed it back to December 23rd of 2026. So not a huge delay. I mean, well, it's pretty much six months about. So I'm not entirely sure why they have done that.

They haven't really said per se. They've said a little bit. But, you know, I mean, you just say, oh, we got to fix some things and that's why it's delayed. But, you know, there could be other factors that are playing into that right now. So bad news. We have to wait for Shrek 5. You know, the three main cast members are coming back again. Still, I guess bad news that we're going to have to wait six more months in 2026 to get it.

But the good news is, is that Minions 3 is actually getting pushed forward, I guess you would say. So that's actually coming out July. Of 2026 instead of its original 2027 release date. So I'm not actually now entirely sure. Something had to have happened with Shrek 5. So that's why they're like, OK, we're just going to flip flop you guys, because we've pretty much gotten majority of, you know, Minions 3 started on maybe concept or something like that.

And they just they need more time to, you know, iron out some things. Who knows? Maybe, you know, who's getting what checks and how much. Again, don't know. But if I find anything else, I'll let you guys know. But at this time, they're flip flopping. You know, to when they'll actually be coming out. Oh, but wait, no, there's actually one more. It's an untitled illumination film.

Yeah, animated film. And that was actually set for the new Minions 3 release date, but is now taking the old date of June 30th, 2027. So I'm sure I confused you because now I'm like confused myself. But, you know, hey, at least we have films in each time slot. They've just kind of swapped. So I don't know about you guys, but I really love Jason Statham.

He's been in some really great movies, especially with Guy Ritchie. So if you don't know these movies, I can give you a list. They're a lot of fun. Unless you don't understand British humor, it might go over your head or you might just not enjoy that type of humor. I absolutely love it. But he plays the straight man really well. And his dry sense of humor just is fantastic.

And he's also a great stunt guy. So he does a lot of his own stunts and fighting. And he's just really entertaining. I mean, maybe, you know, the movies, you know what's coming, but it's still fun to watch. I like fun action movies where you don't really have to put a lot of thought into it. Anyway, we just got this new trailer for a working man. And this is where he is a former black ops agent.

And he's actually searching for a missing teenager, which, again, we've kind of heard that type of synopsis before. But you know what? The cast that's in this is pretty good. And again, it's Jason Statham. You know, he's kind of sticking up for the little guy, so to speak, and taking care of his family. So it seems like it's going to be a fun movie.

Now, like I said, it's got a good cast. It's got Michael Pena. It's got David Harbour. And it's actually co-written by Sylvester Stallone. So I don't know if Stallone's going to be making an appearance. He wasn't in the trailer, but hey, who knows? That could be a fun little addition. You know, maybe one of his, you know, black ops buddies or, you know, his boss, old boss, you know, kind of like an Expendables reunion type of thing.

I don't think that's going to happen because you don't want to mix those, but, you know, it could be fun. A Working Man will hit theaters March 28th of 2025. So we've only got a couple of months. It's really weird that we're in 2025 right now. But we do have a lot of new movies that are slated for the year. So we'll have a lot to talk about and a lot of reviews.

I got another one coming up. And actually, we just did an interview, Den of Thieves 2. So go check out that on our site because it's a pretty fun watch. And finally, this one's going to be a little bit long longer just because I got a lot more information on this one. But it's about the 28 franchise. And as you guys know, I'm a huge fan, especially of 28 Days Later.

Absolutely love Cillian Murphy. And this has just kind of been going on and on. And I'm glad that they're actually bringing back the franchise, even though it's been 28 years later. So I just call it the 28 franchise because I'm sorry, too many names, too long, too many words. We just don't have time for that. But anyway, I have been trying to keep you up to date on all of the things that have been going on.

And the last time we discussed this, it was about Cillian Murphy popping up in the trailer and how I said, yeah, it's not him. It's some artist or art dealer in the UK. Well, Danny Boyle has confirmed, even though we kind of already knew that. But I thought it was really funny because he was like, oh, no, nobody's going to think that even though he was told.

And then recently he had to eat his words, you know, by saying, yeah, yeah, you were right. Yeah, we did. We all thought it was Cillian Murphy for a split second. And that's why I had to do my research and go and double check, because if he had become the undead, I was, you know, and not the good, you know, vampire. Yes, zombie. No, I was going to be very sad.

But I do have some new information aside from the little Danny Boyle piece. But I thought that was pretty funny anyway. Yeah, there have been some updates to who is in the film, what's happening. So I thought I'd just throw a few little tidbits in there just to kind of, you know, satiate the palate, so to speak, on what's going on. So I had told you that Ralph Fiennes seemed to be playing some odd character when we looked at the trailer.

We didn't really have too much information, but he is playing Dr. Kelson and he apparently has some very unsettling views on the world. You know, he's a survivor. So obviously, you know, he's seen some things. So I can't wait to hear what his views are. Obviously, we'll have to wait till we see it. But I like how they just said they were unsettling.

So, you know, they're going to be really crazy, which is fine because Fiennes is unsavory and unsettling very well. It's a little concerning, but I can't wait. I'm really excited. Now, in the article I read, Kelson is going to play a very significant role in the 28 Years Later trilogy. Yes, this is a trilogy. I don't think I mentioned that, actually, because originally I thought it was just the one movie.

I did not know that they already had an entire trilogy for us. So that's even more exciting. Because they're actually going to write this out to where it's three part series. It makes sense. Now, where you will really see a lot of Kelson is going to be in the sequel, which is 28 Years Later, The Bone Temple, and that's coming out in 2026. So they're really going to be popping these out, like probably one a year, because the first 28 Years Later is actually coming out in the UK June of 2025.

So we don't have that much time in between. They only said 2026 for the sequel. But I'm assuming it's probably going to be a year in between just so that they can give themselves enough time to get stuff done. But yeah, it should be really exciting. I'm, like I said, edge of my seat waiting for this because, look, we've been waiting a long time for this one.

Years. It's not going to get old. I mean, maybe it will. But in all honesty, it's been a while and we know that they can write these properly. I mean, the trailer looked amazing and I mean, they've already got a star studded cast, so I'm looking forward to it. But speaking of the cast, I kind of have some sad, bad, not so great. I don't know. Call it what you want news.

Cillian Murphy right now is just a producer. Maybe an executive, an executive producer, which means he's not going to be in this first movie. And I'm hoping that he is just not in this first movie. Maybe he'll be in the third. I would like to see him in more. But I mean, also, he's filming Peaky Blinders, the movie and probably 10 other things. I haven't looked at his IMDb recently to see what else has popped up on his plate.

But look, the man is super busy, so I get it if he's just going to be kind of behind the scenes at this point. But I think. That it would be really cool to kind of tie everything in altogether. He was there at the beginning. You see him at the end. That's my premonition. I'm not going to try to write this for them, but I really hope that that's what happens.

So, yeah, maybe you don't see him 28 years later until the end when all of this is finished, whatever finished is. But, yeah, I'd be really curious to see how he fits in or if he's just going to be an executive producer, which would break my heart. But, you know, hey, again, I know busy you can only do so much, but I would still like to see him at least pop up somewhere and not as a zombie.

So, Danny Boyle, if you're watching, please don't do that to me. That would be very sad. Anyway, what are your thoughts on the 28 years trilogy now that we know that it is a trilogy, are you kind of bummed that Kelly Murphy is not going to make an appearance, at least of what we know for now? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. And honestly, anything that I do bring up in these videos, if you ever have a question, a comment or you just want to, you know, leave some feedback, by all means, leave them in the comments below.

I will definitely give them a read and respond if there's a response that's necessary. But, yeah, I always love hearing back from you guys. It's always a hoot and also things that you want to talk about, you know, if there's something fun that, you know, I haven't really discussed yet and it doesn't just have to be movies. It can be whatever you want to talk about that is entertainment related because we could go off on a tangent on anything on this.

So, yeah, just leave it in the comments and I'll check it out. And with that, this concludes this week's episode of Flick News. Please be sure to like and subscribe to all of our channels so you never miss out on any entertainment news. Thanks for watching and we'll see you next time. Bye.
