Below (2026)

Below is a 2026 limited series centered on Calvin Penney, a Newfoundland fisherman whose life is upended when a mysterious sea creature begins terrorizing his coastal community. As fear spreads through the town, Calvin is forced to step into a battle that is as personal as it is physical, with his family’s safety and his home’s future hanging in the balance. The series frames its danger not just as an encounter with an unseen force, but as a struggle against grief, isolation, and the pressure of protecting the people closest to him.

Set against the rugged Atlantic landscape, the story blends survival drama with mystery, horror, and thriller tension. Josh Hartnett leads the cast alongside Mackenzie Davis and Charlie Heaton, with Jesse McKeown credited as creator. The series leans into the harsh realities of a remote fishing town while building an increasingly claustrophobic sense of dread beneath the water’s surface. That combination of local setting, family stakes, and supernatural threat gives Below a distinct identity within modern genre television, making its conflict feel both intimate and expansive at once.
